5 Best of Beauty 2018

2018 was a big year for beauty. I tried A LOT of products and narrowing it down to the top five was no easy feat. This year was very skincare heavy which is not surprising at all since I spent most of 2018 without makeup on. #nofilter #literally

Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm

I’m not sure why I haven’t talked about this on the blog this year but this has been a game changer. Last year Glossier’s Milky Jelly Cleanser was my go-to for removing makeup, but it has gone to the wayside once this came along. A little goes a long way and solid to oil really removes EVERY LAST BIT of makeup. I was without it for about a week and I noticed a huge difference in my skin when I was using cleaning water instead of this. Bonus: It’s a verified “Clean” product at Sephora!

Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Honey Mask to Purify and Nourish

Origins’ trusted charcoal mask Clear Improvements got a new more hydrating version and it’s AMAZING. Just read the reviews and you’ll find it too hard not to “add to cart.” I love how it is much more hydrating than the original Clear Improvement mask but still packs a punch in the cleaning department. I use this multiple times a week so keep my pores in check.

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Sour Cherry

I love a bold lip but reds are not my usual color preference until I met Sour Cherry. Bite Beauty describes it as a “maraschino cherry” red and I feel like Taylor Swift when I wear it, which isn’t a bad thing in my opinion. You can see this color on me in this Instagram (though it’s a bit darker due to the filter).

OLEHENRIKSEN Glow Cycle Retin-Alt Power Serum

I first talked about this product in this post as one of the four products that have changed my skin. In the post I told you I was scared to be without one of those products because I wasn’t sure if it was one or all products together making my skin so good. Well I found out! I finished the bottle and was without it for about a week and my skin started to get texture and looked less glow-y, so now we know that this is the miracle worker! This is going to be next to my Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate, which I haven’t lived without in 4 years!

Kiehl’s Creme With Silk Groom

I was royally-influenced when I made this purchase. An article had come out going through all the products Kate Middleton’s hairdresser uses to get that iconic Middleton shiny blowout. Since I obviously want to have hair as shiny as Kate’s I scooped it up immediately and whoa. A little goes a long way and made my hair super shiny, smooth, and soft when blowdried and looked good air-dried as well! No greasy hair in sight! I never would have thought to look at Kiehl’s for hair products, but clearly I need to do some more testing in 2019.

I don’t think the skincare trend is going to die down anytime soon. The no makeup life is the life I love the best, even though I do loved getting all dolled up! If you’re curious to see last year’s winners you can see them here. Did you have any standout beauty products this year?
