Our Denver Apartment Dining Room + Giveaway!
Happy Friday friends, another installment of our Denver apartment tour is upon us and I've got a fun giveaway at the end of the post to celebrate my first month of blogging! Today I'll be showing you our Denver dining room/office. I'm going to be honest with you, we don't use our dining room as much as we should, we are definitely couch-eaters and its become a terrible habit. I'm going to try my hardest to break this habit in our new house in California, so I'm counting on you to keep me accountable, okay? (Unless you are a couch-eater too, then I guess you'd be an accountability partner for this.)
Our dining table and chairs were the only dining furniture we brought over from our previous apartment and we'll be taking it with us to California next week (still can't believe the move is almost here!). We purchased this table from World Market on major clearance because the top was pretty scratched and worn (we were poor newlyweds so we didn't care). Even with the defects I still loved it because the whole table already looked worn by nature. It also looked very similar to a Restoration Hardware design I was in love with! If you want a high end look for less World Market and Living Spaces do great RH dupes! Funny story about this table...when we first bought it we had zero clue how to get into our previous apartment. We lived on the 3rd floor and we only had stairs! Brett had to wait outside in the cold until someone walked by and offered to help because I was pretty much useless! This table is a monster and Brett and the poor neighbor (who was probably regretting his decision to help) could barely get it up the stairs without their hands and bodies shaking. When it came time to move to our new apartment we were so nervous about how the movers were going to get the table DOWN the stairs. I was pretty sure they would be so mad about it they'd end up breaking something on purpose as retaliation. But when the movers came in one of them looked under the table, pulled out a screw driver, and took the top off!!! Our minds were blown! We were both amazed by the movers ingenious and then very mad at the World Market employee for not telling us about this. To learn from our mistake ALWAYS check the bottom of your table or just don't move to an apartment that doesn't have an elevator. The chairs are also from World Market and are my favorites! I love the light blue linen fabric as it ties in with the rest of our home's color palette (World Market also has these chairs is a velvet fabric which are beautiful!). Thankfully these were a breeze to get up the stairs.
This little nook is the my favorite spot in the whole apartment and was the first spot I finished when we moved in. It is very picturesque which is why its been the star in many of my Instagrams (like here, here, and here). Pairing down our book collection to fit into this small Ikea bookcase was hard but I'm so happy we did because moving with books are a pain! I'm hoping our new place has a spot similar to this because I just love it so much. One tip I can give you about book styling is buy lots of coffee table books. Home Goods and Amazon are awesome for this. Stack them up and place a random object on top and it'll look straight out of Pinterest.
Another favorite space of our apartment is our "office" corner. While our apartment is directly next to a car wash, I still loved working on my computer and looking out at the mountains to the west -- we can see all the way to Pike's Peak in Colorado Springs! We picked out this desk and filing cabinet at Ikea (a lot of our furniture is from Ikea) and I found this acrylic chair on Amazon. I love the way acrylic furniture looks and this chair is surprisingly comfy! One of my favorite personal touches is our CA license plates on the wall. I hope to place our Colorado plates somewhere in the new place too as a little reminder of our first "home" together.
I hope you all liked our dining room/office space! Next Friday on the blog look out for our kitchen.
Now lets get to what you really want to know (or what you skipped the whole post for)....the giveaway! To celebrate one month of blogging I wanted to do a giveaway to thank you for supporting me! I have been overwhelmed by the flood of comments, DMs, and texts that I have received over the past month. I was a bit nervous about starting a blog because I really wanted it to be done well (hopefully I have done that so far) and didn't want to just slap together posts haphazardly or have a site that wasn't pretty to look at. I think I'm doing okay so far and I'm VERY excited to see what the blog will turn into the next few months and years! So again thank you from the bottom of my heart.
For the giveaway prize I wanted to give one lucky winner a handful of my favorite things which are:
