February Skincare Q&A
1. What Products will work to reduce the appearance of smile lines?
When it comes to fine lines and wrinkles Vitamin C and moisturizers with hyaluronic acids are what you are in search of! The Vitamin C exfoliates and smooths the skin's texture while the hyaluronic acids plump up the skin filling in the lines, put the two together and you've got a skincare super product against wrinkles and lines. Kiehl's new Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate 12.5% Vitamin C has been getting RAVE reviews about its super strength to quickly change the look of your skin. Many reviewers say the product started working quicker than they thought and it also brightened their complexion overall. Another good option is this one from Avene which has the addition of Vitamin E which helps soothe skin. While doing my research for this question every article stressed the need to wear SPF everyday to stop future wrinkles from forming and keeping the the current wrinkles and lines from getting deeper. My personal favorite sunscreen is from Supergoop, I'd recommend this one or this one.
2. What cleansers are best for dry and mature skin?
Dry and mature skin are begging for a cleansing balm. Cleansing balms are solid gel like cleansers you warm up in your hands and massage over dry skin. As you massage they turn into an oil that dissolves away your makeup as well as any dirt and grime. You follow with a a splash a water to remove the oil and your skin is left feeling clean but also hydrated without the oily residue. I would recommend this one from Elemis which helps promote collagen production, this Eve Lom one which introduced the world to balm cleansers, or this more budget friendly cleanser you can find at Target.
3. What is your #1 Favorite Cleanser, Toner, Serum, and lotion?
This is probably the hardest question I have been asked because I try SO many new products all the time (Hi I'm Logan and I'm a beauty product addict). I really pushed myself here and I think I have narrowed down my #1 picks.
Cleanser - First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser is gentle enough for all skin types and I really like that it doesn't leave my skin too dry.
Toner - I try a new toner every time I finish one but if I could only have one for the rest of my life it would be the Caudalie Moisturizing Toner.
Serum/Oil - My favorite oil is the Fig + Yarrow Rosehip + Argan Oil Facial Serum, I use 4 drops pressed into the skin morning and night.
Lotion - The moisturizer that I always come back to to keep my skin super hydrated but not oily is Dr. Jart+'s Ceramidin Cream.
4. What tinted MOISTURIZER would you recommend?
I am not a huge foundation fan so tinted moisturizer is always my go-to for everyday. My favorite tinted moisturizer is It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+.
5. What is the best winter moisturizer?
The best winter moisturizer in my opinion is actually my favorite moisturizer I listed above. Seriously, Dr. Jart+'s Ceramidin Cream is life changing.
6. what is the best moisture mask?
Because I have dry skin I have lots of favorite moisture masks. My all time favorite is Glamglow's Thirstymud mask; you can actually leave it on overnight for extra hydration! My next favorite is Fresh Rose Face Mask which is very gentle and soothing. Lastly a drugstore favorite of mine is Nugg Hydrating Face Mask, its only $3.99 and it comes in this single use pod perfect for traveling with.
I really enjoyed answering all these questions, I could seriously talk about skincare forever! I would love to make this a monthly feature on the blog especially since skincare needs change with the seasons. If you ever have a question you can leave it in the comment section, email me, or send me a DM on Instagram -- I screenshot them all!
